Case Study

Patrick Malloy Townhomes

Situation

Large quantities of fill dirt surrounding these new townhomes made additional underground support for the porches in one portion of the community necessary.

The porches all connect to a common area in the center of the development. The soil was not tightly compacted, making the needed depth for the helical piles an unknown factor in the process.

Scope of Work

Because the fill dirt created an unknown depth requirement, Cantsink ran five test piles at different locations throughout the site to determine the needed reach of the piles.

The tests revealed pile depths ranging from 10 feet to 15 feet on average, which made helical piles a good solution for stability and alignment of the townhome porches.

The results of the test piles allowed the builder to proceed confidently with the cost-effective stabilization of Cantsink's patented helical piers. Installation was completed in a single day.

Anchor System

70 new construction piles, totaling 798 feet. Installation reached a load capacity of 1,800 PSI using an Eskridge 5000.

Results

Homeowners in this new community will be assured of stable, attractive porches facing the common area.

The builder's reputation for high-quality construction is supported, as well, by the good word-of-mouth from happy homebuyers.
