Annual Georgia Solar Energy Association Celebration

December 2011 – Atlanta, GA – The Georgia Solar Energy Association celebrated the end to a successful year during a holiday luncheon at Maggiano’s in Buckhead.  The ending to a great year included not only a record attendance for the GSEA’s annual Solar Summit Conference but also the industry’s success in securing $5 million in state tax credits through 2014 for solar project investments.  Legislators and solar professionals gathered to together at the event and listened to key note speaker Dr. Beverly A. Scott, MARTA’s General Manager and CEO, discuss their future plans for energy conservation.  In November, MARTA presented the second-largest solar array at a U.S. transit system with a 1.2 MW project for their Laredo facility.

After Dr. Scott’s address, the GSEA presented its solar advocate awards for 2011.  Sharon Lee from Cantsink Manufacturing was one of the awarded recipients for her efforts with the first solar guidebook for Georgia’s VIP annual Solar Tour.  “I was surprised and thrilled at receiving this award.  Working on the Guidebook was a pleasure, and we had a fantastic team to pull it all together. I’m happy to see that GSEA had a fantastic complement to the Solar Tour, and a show piece to use in the future,” Lee said.

The event ended with the GSEA’s announcement for its new 2012 board members and the room was a buzz with anticipation for the opportunities to come in the solar industry for the coming year.
